Q. What are eyelash extensions and how are they applied?
A. Eyelash extensions are single synthetic lashes applied to your individual natural eyelash using a low fumed bonding adhesive. With these beauties you will be able to achieve a full, stunning set of lashes that will look and feel like your very own. The process typically takes about 2-3 hours depending on the amount of lashes applied. These lash extensions are not to be confused with the individual cluster eyelashes.
Q. Is it painful to get the eyelash extensions? Will the glue burn or irritate my eyes?
A. The eyelash extension application process is a pain free, relaxing experience. Most clients typically fall asleep during the process. The clients eyes will be closed during the application, therefore the client shouldn’t experience any pain or burning from the adhesive. If you should feel any irritation or discomfort you should definitely advise your lash stylist because there may be an allergic reaction to the adhesive. If you have ever experienced an allergic reaction from any other eyelash adhesive there is a strong possibility you may be allergic to the adhesive used for the semi permanent eyelash extensions. Typically clients that are allergic to acrylic nails or acrylates are allergic to the eyelash adhesive. If eyelash extensions have been applied, and at any point you notice swelling, severe itching, or irritation please notify your lash stylist as soon as possible for removal of extensions.
Q. Will the eyelash extensions damage my natural eyelashes?
A. The natural lashes are not damaged at all by the lash extensions as long as they are applied correctly and the appropriate lash size is applied to your lashes. Clients with scarce or very short lashes must understand that you can only go a certain length or size with the lash extensions and your lash stylist at Hair Rhapsody will advise you of this. Clients with thinner lashes also may not be able to get an extremely full or very long set of lashes due to the fact of the lash being too heavy for your natural lash and it may cause damage to your natural lashes. You also may not be able to obtain the full 6-8 week lifespan of your lash extensions if lashes that are too heavy are applied.
Q. Why do I need lash fill ins if they’re suppose to last for 6 to 8 weeks?
A. Lash extensions will last up to 6 to 8 weeks, although within that time frame you will notice that your natural lashes will start to shed with your lash extension attached to it. Each of your natural eyelashes has it own growth cycle therefore there will be a lost of lashes at different times causing your original full set of lashes to start looking thinner or there may be gaps in your lashes. Therefore in order to keep your lashes looking as full and beautiful we highly recommend fill ins every 2 to 3 weeks.
Q. Can I get eyelash extensions if pregnant?
A. Yes, eyelash extensions are a noninvasive procedure that is safe for pregnant women. Although it safe, Hair Rhapsody recommends clients to still consult with there physicians before having eyelash extensions applied. Pregnant clients must also keep in consideration when getting eyelash that they will be lying on their back for an extended period of time therefore it may become uncomfortable for the client.
Q. Can I wear mascara with eyelash extensions?
A. Yes, you can wear mascara with eyelash extensions although it is something we do not recommend. Some mascaras contain oil that can interfere with the bond of the eyelash extensions and may cause your lash extensions to fall off sooner. If you do feel that you still want to wear mascara please make sure that you use an “OIL FREE” mascara or a mascara designed specifically for eyelash extensions.
Q. Can I swim with eyelash extensions?
A. Yes, but you should wait 48 hours to swim or any type of moisture to come in contact with your eyelash extensions. It takes 48 hours for the adhesive to cure therefore exposing your lash extensions to water, heat, sauna, steam or friction (rubbing or cleansing) can cause lost of eyelashes extensions.
